The surface dataset representing landcover had a blocky appearance as the landcover category polygons were extracted from pixel based satellite imagery classifications. Therefore, the polygons were smoothed using the 'Smooth Polygon' tool. The algorithm used was Polynomial Approximation with Exponential Kernel (PAEK) with a smoothing tolerance of 50 metres. This gave an improved visual appearance to the landcover, without altering the boundaries of the polygon classifications. It also resulted in the data not matching the coastline, and some slithers were identified in the data more widely. These issues were fixed by editing accordingly. The landcover data was then styled according to the following hex values; ice: #FFFFFF, ice-free: #CDAA66, lake: #73B2FF and moraine: #B2B2B2. The coastline was given a thickness of 0.7 pt, and colour of #005CE6. The seamask was styled as #BED2FF. All three layers were published as a single vector tile package to ArcGIS Online.
